Available at the City of Mississauga, Office of the City Clerk, 3rd Floor, 300 City Centre Dr between the hours 8:30am-4:30pm during the candidate nomination/registration period January 2 -September 26, 2003 OR ONLINE: Candidate's Kit [1.8Mb PDF].
PLEASE TAKE NOTE: On Friday September 26 (Nomination Day) nominations can be submitted between the hours of 9:00am-5:00pm

A candidate must be a qualified elector. A person is a qualified elector if:
  1. is a Canadian citizen
  2. is at least 18 years old
  3. resides in the local municipality
  4. is the owner or tenant or land in the local municipality, or a spouse of such a person
Disqualifications of a Candidate:

The following persons are disqualified from holding office:

  1. an employee of the municipality or school board unless a leave of absence has been granted
  2. a judge of any court, a member of the Legislative Assembly or the Senate or the House of Commons
  3. a Crown employee within the meaning of the Public Service Act
  4. an inmate of a penal or correctional institute
  5. one who ceases to be a Canadian Citizen
  6. one who is not a resident, owner or tenant in the Municipality
  7. one who is prohibited from voting in an election according to the Elections Act, Municipal Act or Education Act
  8. one who has violated financial requirements for filing financial information


Pour être candidat à un poste du conseil re, il faut:
  1. être résident du territoire qui relève du conseil;
  2. être citoyen canadien;
  3. être âgé d’au moins 18 ans;
  4. ne pas avoir été déclaré, en vertu d’une loi, inhabile à occuper le poste.
Les personnes suivantes sont ou peuvent être inadmissibles à un poste au sein d’une administration municipale:
  1. une employé d’une municipalité ou d’un conseil local, sous réserve d’obtenir de son employeur un congé autorisé pour se présenter aux élections et de démissionner s’il est élu;
  2. un juge d’un tribunal ou d’une cour;
  3. un membre de l’Assemblée législative de l’Ontario, un sénateur ou un membre de la Chambre des communes;
  4. un fonctionnaire du gouvernement provincial, tel qu’il est précisé dans la Loi sur la fonction publique;
  5. un détenu ou une détenue purgeant une peine d’emprisonnement dans un établissement carcéral ou correctionnel.
