ELECTION WORKERS
REGULAR VOTING LOCATIONS ARE OPEN BETWEEN 10:00 A.M. AND 8:00
P.M.
NOTE: HOURS FOR THE MANDATORY VOTING
LOCATIONS, I.E. NURSING HOMES, RETIREMENT HOMES ETC...MAY VARY
The following is a brief description of the
duties of Election Workers. Those appointed will be provided with a detailed
instruction booklet.
General:
- All workers must be minimum of 18 years of
age and may not be a candidate or spouse of a candidate.
- All workers must arrive at their voting
locations no later than 9:30 a.m. and remain there until all their duties are
completed after the close of the polls at 8:00 p.m.
- Please come prepared with any food or
drinks, as you may not leave the location at any time.
- All Voting locations are considered "Non
Smoking".
Please note that the rates of pay also
includes your attendance at any necessary training sessions.
Supervisor (rate of pay
$250.00)
Supervisors are appointed to supervise the
overall conduct of the polls.

experience must have a valid drivers license and a vehicle on
Election Day must attend an Instruction Session must take
oath of office must pick up election material before Election
Day must ensure that all DRO's reconcile & close the polls in
accordance with Legislation must return election supplies, ballots,
smart card and tabulator to City Hall following the close of polls
Election Day Responsibilities:
ensure that all voting locations are
set up properly ensure that all workers are present
ensure that all Legislative requirements are being followed ensure
all workers have sufficient supplies solve any problems that may
arise with the workers, electors, candidates and scrutineers act as
liaison between the workers and the Clerk's Department provide the
workers with professional and technical support when required
evaluate performance of DRO, Operator and Demonstrator leave only
after all workers have completed their work and have left the poll
Prepare to assist in various duties
DEPUTY
RETURNING OFFICERS: (rate of pay $200.00)
Deputy returning officers are appointed to
maintain the voters list and issue ballots to the electors.

must pick up the ballots and election material before election day
must have a valid drivers license and a vehicle on Election Day
Election Day Responsibilities:
set up the voting location
administer oaths issue the proper ballots keep track of
all ballots, complete DRO Statement Form and perform closing procedures in
accordance with legislation. NOTE:*** The duties of the DROs appointed
to work at the mandatory voting locations may vary slightly and will be
explained individually upon appointment.
OPERATORS: (rate of
pay $200.00)
Operators are appointed to effectively
tabulate cast ballots throughout the day and to ensure the effective operation
of the tabulating machine.

Election Day Responsibilities:
perform start up and shut down
procedures on Election Day ensure tabulator is operating
properly ensure that all ballots are tabulated correctly
assist in setting up the voting locations
REVISING
OFFICER: (rate of pay $150.00)
Revising Officers are appointed at every
location to assist with revisions to the voters list. must
attend an instruction session must pick up all supplies prior to
election day
Election Day Responsibilities:
issue applications for Revision to
the Voters' List assist in setting up the voting locations
check voters list to ensure elector is on the list and direct to correct
poll or revising officer
DEMONSTRATORS:
(rate of pay $125.00)
Demonstrators are appointed at each voting
location to demonstrate the proper manner to mark the ballot.
must attend an instruction session
and pick up supplies.
Election Day Responsibilities:
assist in setting up the voting
locations, putting up posters, arrows, signs, and closing the voting location
serve as a greeter at the entrance to the voting location
demonstrate the proper manner to complete the ballot for the voting
tabulator
